Diagnostics, Pricing, Installation & Calibration

One platform for the lifecycle of your Panasonic projection estate. We diagnose faults with evidence, price repairs transparently, install hardware to specification, and calibrate images to reference standards. Universities, enterprises, visitor attractions, and rental houses rely on our data-driven approach to keep their assets show-ready.

From Symptom to Root Cause—Without Guesswork

A flickering image can be a lamp arc issue, a ballast voltage ripple, or a colour wheel synchronization error. A "No Signal" message can stem from a broken HDMI port, a corrupted EDID chip, or a failed main processor. Guesswork in projection repair is expensive and dangerous.

Our diagnostics process eliminates speculation. We treat every projector like a crime scene, gathering forensic evidence before a single screw is turned. We begin with structured intake—logging model codes, usage hours, environmental factors, and specific failure modes—before proceeding to our 48-Point Instrumented Analysis.

The 48-Point Analysis Suite

We use calibrated test equipment to interrogate every subsystem of the projector. This ensures we identify not just what failed, but why it failed, preventing repeat issues.

  • Signal Path Analysis: We use signal generators to stress-test HDMI/HDBaseT inputs, measuring handshake latency and checking for HDCP/EDID corruption.
  • Optical Benchmarking: We measure baseline brightness (ANSI Lumens) and contrast to determine if the optical engine is viable for repair or if degradation is too advanced.
  • Thermal Profiling: Using thermal imaging cameras, we map heat distribution across the DMD/LCD blocks and laser banks to identify blocked cooling channels or dry thermal paste.
  • Power Rail Stability: We probe the PSU rails for voltage ripple and noise, which are often the precursors to intermittent shutdowns.
  • Mechanical Integrity: We assess fan acoustics, colour wheel bearings, and zoom/focus motor torque.
  • Firmware Audit: We check error logs for historical fault codes and verify firmware versions against the latest stable Panasonic releases.

Pricing Models That Respect Your Budget

We understand that facility managers need predictability. Wherever possible, we operate on fixed-price brackets for standard repairs. For complex large-venue systems, we provide detailed quotes only after the fault is confirmed, ensuring you never pay for "what ifs."

Standard Fixed Price

For common mechanical and electrical faults on lamp-based LCD/DLP models.

£189 – £329

Includes labour, standard parts (fans, sensors), and full optical cleaning. Excludes major sub-assemblies (Mainboard, Optical Block) if required.

Quote-After-Diagnostic

For SOLID SHINE Laser (RQ/RZ) and 3-Chip DLP Large Venue systems.

Variable

Due to the high cost of laser banks and DMD chips, we provide a precise quote after diagnosis. Diagnostic fee is waived if repair proceeds.

Estate/Batch Rates

For universities and corporate fleets sending 10+ units.

Volume

Consolidated shipping logistics and reduced labour rates for bulk preventative maintenance and filter/lamp cycles.

The "Beyond Economic Repair" Guarantee

If a repair is not cost-effective (e.g., the cost exceeds 50% of the replacement value or the optical engine is too degraded), we will tell you immediately. We can provide an official condemnation report for asset disposal and recommend a modern equivalent from the Panasonic range.

Installation Engineering

Lens Selection, Rigging & Infrastructure

A projector is only as good as its installation. We provide end-to-end installation services for Panasonic projectors, ensuring that the physical deployment matches the engineering potential of the hardware. We don't just hang projectors; we integrate them.

Pre-Installation Engineering

Before a drill touches the ceiling, we perform detailed calculations to ensure the chosen projector and lens combination will deliver the required image size and brightness for the venue.

  • Throw Distance Calculation: Verifying the exact position range using Panasonic's lens calculator for ET-DLE and ET-D3LE optics.
  • Lens Shift Analysis: Checking vertical and horizontal shift limits to ensure the image clears obstructions (beams, lights) without digital keystone correction, which degrades resolution.
  • Brightness Modelling: Calculating Foot-Lamberts (fL) based on screen gain and ambient light levels to guarantee readability.
  • Structural Rigging: Designing and installing Unicol or bespoke mounts, including vibration isolation for long-throw lenses.

Reference Standards

Image Calibration & Uniformity

Turning the projector on is not the end of the job. "Out of the box" settings are rarely optimized for the specific screen material or room environment. We calibrate every installation and repair to measurable reference standards.

The Calibration Protocol

Using industrial colorimeters and luminance meters, we tune the projector to achieve:

  • White Balance (D65): Adjusting RGB gain and bias to achieve a neutral 6500K white point, ensuring skin tones look natural and graphics look correct.
  • Colour Space (Rec.709 / Rec.2020): Mapping the projector's gamut to the content standard, critical for broadcast and museum environments.
  • Uniformity Correction: Using the internal digital uniformity circuits to balance brightness from centre to corner, eliminating "hot spots."
  • Geometry & Convergence: For 3-chip systems, we perform mechanical and digital convergence alignment to ensure sharp text rendering across the entire screen.
  • Edge Blending: For multi-projector arrays, we configure the overlap zones and black-level uplift to create a seamless, single canvas.

Commissioning, Documentation & Handover

Professional engineering concludes with professional documentation. We don't just walk away; we ensure your team owns the system. Our handover process is designed to integrate the new or repaired hardware into your existing estate management workflow.

Asset Registration

We record serial numbers, MAC addresses, and lens types. We can apply your own asset tags and enrol devices into control systems like Crestron, Extron, or Panasonic's Multi Monitoring & Control Software.

Maintenance Schedule

We provide a tailored maintenance plan based on the environment (e.g., "Clean filters every 500 hours," "Replace lamp at 2000 hours"). This helps you budget for consumables and prevent preventable failures.

Calibration Report

You receive a "Birth Certificate" for the installation, detailing the final brightness readings, colour coordinates, and menu settings. This provides a baseline for future troubleshooting.

User Training

We brief your onsite AV technicians on basic operation, lens changing procedures, and filter cleaning protocols to ensure the longevity of the equipment.
